Andrea Murphy Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Hi! I'm Andrea Murphy and this is my blog! I've tried for quite some time to come up with something terribly clever to say about myself. Bios are just difficult to write, so I'll save the cleverness for my photos. I can tell you that I'm in love with (in no particular order) my husband, my family, photography, and God. I also really enjoy my friends, traveling, and Diet Pepsi.
I've set up this blog to show off some recent work and to share a little bit of who I am. So, enjoy my blog for what it's worth. Expect to see some bad grammar and lots of exclamation points!
Oh, and don't forget to leave a comment. I LOVE comments!! They make me feel special!!

Big News!!!!

So I’ve been wanting to do this for about, well, since I started my business. But its taken awhile to get to the point where I can actually afford to do it. I’ve tossed around a lot of different ideas about how I wanted to do it, but I’ve finally decided on it. And its not like this is an original idea, I know other photographers around the country are doing something similar. So don’t be fooled into thinking I’m that clever ;-) So wanna know what ”it” is?? Okay, I ’spose I’ll tell ya.

I’m giving away a wedding collection.
No strings. No purchases neccesary.
I know, right???
Whoever wins will be getting the following:

~ 6  Hours Wedding Day Coverage
~ 2 photographers
~ Coffee table Wedding Album
~ CD of wedding images with a reprint release
This is $2450 collection, absolutely FREE. That’s exciting right??? I really think so! I’m totally excited about it!

Now ya wanna know how you’re gonna win it? Here’s the dealio:

The ONLY way to be entered into this contest is to attend Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show on September 19th. The key is to PRE REGISTER. For everyone that pre registers you automatically get an additional 5 votes. On the pre registry you’ll have a question that asks where you heard about the show. Its super super important that you pre register. We’ll have our fabulous Snapshot Lounge set up where you will get your picture taken with you and your girlfriends (or by yourself if you prefer). All the pictures will then be uploaded to my Facebook. That’s where your work starts. You’ll be in charge of getting everyone possible to go to my Facebook page, “fan” me, and “Like” your particular picture. Whoever at the end of the contest has the most Likes/votes, wins!

FOR THE BRIDE THAT’S ALREADY BOOKED ME: You still can win! You’ll get the $2450 credited to your collection.

Here’s the not-so fine print:
-Obviously, we have to be available on your wedding date.
-The wedding must be in 2010 or 2011
-For the wedding to be free it must be in Oklahoma, if your wedding is out of state you’ll just have to pay for our travel and expenses.
-The only way you can be entered is to have your picture taken at the show. No exceptions will be made so please don’t ask.

Lisa & Colin are Pregnant – Tulsa Maternity Pictures

Ya know what makes me so very happy? Getting to photograph people in different stages of their lives. I’m pretty sure that having a couple whose wedding I shot come to me for maternity portraits is one of my most favoritest things! Not to get overly sentimental, but when I think about how I get to be a part of so many amazing moments in my clients life really just makes me a big puddle of mush. And calling Lisa a “client” just isn’t even right. Yes she’s a client, but she’s also a girlfriend too! And she’s one of my biggest cheerleaders and has sent me a ton of business. So I just love her. Plus its extra sentimental to me because Lisa and Colin were one of my first weddings to shoot offically as “Andrea Murphy Photography” So yeah. Okay, enough of the love fest. Here’s some pictures!blog1

Jamie & Travis: Married – Tulsa Wedding Photographer

I have so many weddings to post its not even funny. And I’m 2 months behind on my anniversary posts too! Boo!! Good news is that I think my life is going to be getting a little less complicated come a few weeks from now! Hurray!! So Jamie and Travis got married awhile ago, but I really wanted to share this one because I just love this couple. Okay, I love all my couples. Ya know how I say everyone is super sweet? Well Jamie is as sweet as they come. And she and Travis are so stinkin’ cute together. Travis had to be one of the best grooms we’ve ever had. This wedding was super fun and I really enjoyed getting to work with the VonLanken’s for the first time at a wedding. Good videography is soooo important! I’m surprised at how few of my couples hire a videographer. Really, go hire one. And if you need a recommendation holler at me. I’m friends with all the best! :-) But back to Jamie and Travis… needless to say it was a great wedding surrounded by fabulous people. blog1blog2All the above shots are Aprils. She’s such a detail master. blog3blog3aLove this quiet moment right before Jamie was escorted down the aisle by her Dad!blog4blog5The colors in this photo seriously make my eyes happy! Loving loving the bright colors!!blog6blog7blog8April is this your shot? You know you have a great 2nd photographer when you can’t tell whose picture is whose. blog9blog10

Love these reactions to their Same Day Edit!

Hayden’s Bridal Portraits – Tulsa Wedding Photographer

Hayden… oh Hayden. What can I say? Everyone that meets this girl just adores her! All of her wedding vendors rave about what a doll she is, and its absolutely true. On top of being like, um, stunning, she’s got the biggest sweetest heart! Just love her. And she’s incapable of taking a bad picture. Hayden and David’s wedding this past weekend ranks right up there as one of my faves! Can’t wait to share it! But in the meantime I’m just thrilled to finally get to show off her bridal portraits. The location, the dress and the bride all just worked perfectly. And while we’re on the subject, just for the record, I LOVE Philbrook. I’ve been shooting for 9 years at Philbrook and I’m continually amazed at how beautiful it is and how many amazing places there are to shoot. blog1

James’ 1st Birthday – Tulsa Family Photographer

I can’t believe this little baby is already 1 years old! I remember when he was a tiny little thing asleep in a basket. Heck, I remember he was still in his Mama’s tummy. When Amanda approached me about documenting James’ party I jumped at the chance. She really throws a great party! Despite it being horribly hot a bit warm, it was a great afternoon. Luckily they all had a pool to play in to stay cool. blog0blog2The whale theme was adorable! You should have seen the invitation! It was perfect and oh so cute!!blog3Seriously. How cute is he?? He really gets cuter and cuter every time I see him. blog4blog5So they put James infront of the cake, everyone starts singinig, as soon as he’s free to smash himself into the cake he gets nervous, kicks it over, and has a total meltdown. Poor kid. I hate being sung to as well. blog6Luckily, Mama was there to make it all better. Between Amanda and Ben they got him settled down and more into the cake. I mean, look at him, I don’t think he turns down a lot of cake. ;-) blog7blog8blog9blog10And then his own personal whale pool was there to cool him off after being covered in lovely icing. He’s quite a swimmer!blog11My favorite detail of the day. Cute, right?
His actual 1 year pictures will be posted on here someday…

If you’re interested in having your child’s party documented email me at info@amurphyphoto.com for more information!

Delana & Johnny: Married – Oklahoma City Wedding Photographer

Delana and I go back. Way way back. When my family first moved to Tulsa her family let my crazy family move in next door to them (they were our landlords!) while we were waiting to sell our home in Texas.  We also went to church together. We saw a lot of eachother. We played a lot of cards, drank a whole lot of Dr. Pepper and pulled some odd antics. We were… weird. In the meantime we became great friends and remained that way. Oh the stories we can tell about eachother. There’s a few that come to mind that seriously crack me up, but you really had to be there. Anywhoosie! Delana got married in June and I was the photographer. Delana and Johnny have been dating for approximately a billion years so it was about time! I actually got to be there when he proposed and it was perfect and sweet.

Its been so much fun being around watching ‘Lana plan her big day and it turned out perfectly. The wedding was held in Oklahoma City and we were able to drive over to Bricktown for their portrait session. And Dude. It was hot. But the whole wedding party were total champs about it and we had a blast. Being at the wedding was a blast cause I got to see lots of old friends. And fun fact! April (the world’s greatest second shooter) and Delana are cousin-in-laws. So April knew everyone too!

blog11blog12Can you even handle this sauciness?? blog14More of April’s shots above and below. She’s all about the details. The bouquet was done by the fabulous Bridal Garden by Lindi. Her work is flawless!blog15blog16

blog18Johnny is an Air Force guy. So instead of throwing birdseed or blowing bubbles they had all their guests make paper airplanes to throw. I love it that after 9 years shooting weddings I’m still seeing new ideas!blog19

Delana… Love you girl!! Hope you love love love your pictures!!

Taylor & Mike: Engaged – Tulsa Engagement Pictures

Taylor and Mike are getting married this November in someplace tropical and wonderful. Despite my begging, crying and pleading suggestion to hire us to shoot their wedding, they decided to just stick with an engagement session. And, of course, I’m really glad they did. Taylor is total sweetheart and you can tell how crazy Mike is about her. If I recall our first meeting, Taylor told me that she wasn’t great infront of a camera. To which now I can laugh hysterically at. She was a pro. In fact, they both were.  I love so many of their pictures but I think these are my favoritest. At least, they are at this moment. Ask me again tomorrow.blog1blog2blog3Favorite! I can see this as a giant wall portrait in their house! Love it.blog4blog5

Brittany – Tulsa Senior Pictures

I had a couple last minute 2010 seniors right before school ended and Brittany was one of them. Brittany brought lots of great outfits and so we spent her whole session wondering around downtown shooting at some great locations. She also brought her Mom and sisters who were equally great. Sometimes people bring family members and I wonder why because they just seem to argue and be annoyed with eachother. But the ladies in this family were fabulous! And while we’re talking about Senior pictures now is a great time to have them taken before we get too insanely busy. I mean… more insanely busy. And October would be that time. So make your senior appointment ASAP!!blog1

Sabrina, Dave & Jack – Tulsa Family Photographer

So I know Sab follows my blog super close so I’m sure she’s shocked right now seeing her name on the header. Cause we did the pics quite awhile ago. But like I said, I just want to show off all the fun stuff I’ve been up to. We actually did the shoot as a family shoot for Sabrina’s grandma for a gift. So we did the full family pic with Grandma & Grandpa, Aunt Cindy, Mama Pam, Baby Cakes and of course Sabrina, Jack and Dave. It was also time for Jack’s 9 month pictures, so we were able to knock that out at the same time. Jack is beautiful. He has the longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen on a baby and he’s totally squeezable. Love this family and I’m so glad to have them as friends! Love you Sab!blog1
