Andrea Murphy Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Hi! I'm Andrea Murphy and this is my blog! I've tried for quite some time to come up with something terribly clever to say about myself. Bios are just difficult to write, so I'll save the cleverness for my photos. I can tell you that I'm in love with (in no particular order) my husband, my family, photography, and God. I also really enjoy my friends, traveling, and Diet Pepsi.
I've set up this blog to show off some recent work and to share a little bit of who I am. So, enjoy my blog for what it's worth. Expect to see some bad grammar and lots of exclamation points!
Oh, and don't forget to leave a comment. I LOVE comments!! They make me feel special!!

Maternity Snow Sesssions: Tulsa Maternity Photographer

On Saturday I got the opportunity to photograph two beautiful expecting Mamas. I love it that I have friends and clients that I can say to “hey… want to stand half naked in the snow to make art???” and they’re all for it!  I think it was worth the cold. Both girls were fabulous in front of the camera and so much fun to photograph. Gina  (the first lady shown) is a friend of mine and I’ve photographed her before so I knew she was a great model. But Brittany is a new client so the fact that she was AWESOME infront of the camera was a major plus! Thanks girls for braving the weather! I hope you’re as thrilled as I am!! gina3I showed up for Gina’s shoot and she had a bag of bright, gem toned Sarees to use for the shoot! It was like Christmas for me! gina2gina1brittany3brittany2brittany1

Destination Weddings…

…We would REALLY like to book some. And we’re willing to cut you a deal. So if you’re getting married somewhere fabulous let us know.

In other news, isn’t my cat freaking cute??? His name is Norm.IMG_0050IMG_0054

He’s a lover. And he frequently greets us like he’s greeting Paddycakes in the above shot.

P.S. One of my goals this year is to take snapshots of our life. So I got a point and shoot camera that we could play with. Apparently a lot of our life is the cats. Oh well.

Last Minute Boudoir Marathon – Tulsa Boudoir Photographer

I’ve decided to add a last minute Boudoir Marathon to the schedule. For those who don’t know what a boudoir marathon is, its a day where we book a full day’s worth of sessions, bring in a makeup artist and then you’re able to have boudoir pictures for a reduced rate. Brides, this makes a great wedding gift for your groom!! Even if you’re not able to participate in this marathon, consider making a session later on. (and specifically to my brides, your print and album credit can go towards this) boudoir marathon

Cassie & Rickey Engaged: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

Since Cassie and Rickey will be my first wedding of the season, and since I know Cassie’s fabulous mama, Teauna, is a faithful blog reader, I thought it was high time to post pictures from their e-session! I am so incredibly excited about this wedding! Its going to be unbelievable. (I just got a look at C’s dress last night… and holy crap! I can not wait for her bridal session)
Cassie and Rickey are a blast to photograph. They’re funny, nuts about eachother,  and we all clicked right away. We wondered around downtown Tulsa for their session and ended up at McNellies. They met at a small town bar so we thought it was appropriate to do part of their session in a bar setting. ***Note to brides: Having trouble getting your groom to get in the mood for your engagement session? Bribe them with beer! Works every time!*** But seriously, I love it when a couple wants to make their engagement session unique to them. blog4blog3blog2blog5blog1

Guilty/Top 50: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

So… yeah. Um… Well its like this…

Okay I’ve got very few good excuses for not updating the blog in a super long time. BUT. I did have my busiest Christmas season ever and I was completely overwhellmed (thank you thank you thank you!) That’s always a good problem! I stayed busy up until the very last second. (No lie. I had a wedding on Christmas Eve. In a blizzard) So there’s that excuse. There are a few other that are actually really good. But no one wants to listen to me whine, right?

And as soon as the new year hit I’ve been slammed with all these FABULOUS new brides! I’m so excited about this year’s wedding season. You chicks are planning some AMAZING weddings and I’m thrilled to be a part of them. I love it that so many people get engaged over the holidays. Girls… please don’t wait to hire your vendors if you’ve got your date set! Everyone I know is booking up sooo quickly!

So since I was the worst blogger in the history of blogging this year I didn’t post images from most of my weddings. (Oh the guilt and the torment!!!) Since I didn’t do that I wanted to dedicate a post to my top 50 favorite images from the weddings this year. I could have posted 150. There were just too many images that I adored! And then I could post another 150 my favorites April took. (BTW! April had her baby last week! She is adorable!) So get ready for a whole lotta kissing pictures. For some reason I picked a lot of those to go in this set. 123456789101112131516171819202122232425262728293031323334353637383940414242a4345464848a48b495150

The Hale’s Fall Family Portrait – Tulsa, OK

So do you feel like you know Amanda and Ben yet? You should. Actually you probably do know them. Or know someone who does. Amanda, hands down, sends me more business than anyone else. And I just adore her for it. We went out a couple weeks ago to do their 3 month/family/Christmas card photo session. Baby J decided to play a dirty trick on all of us and sleep in much past the time he usually wakes up. So the session had to be pushed back a bit, but that was all fine and dandy. Something exciting always has to happen on picture day! So parents, don’t stress when these things happen. I know Amanda didn’t stress one tiny bit, right Amanda? :-) We can almost always work with the little things that go wrong. blog1blog2Babies in leaves. Does it get any better??blog3blog4This picture just makes my heart go pitter patter! Isn’t he precious??? I so love a chunky baby! Everytime I look at this image I think of Randy from The Christmas Story “I can’t put my arms down!!” So funny! blog5

By the time we got to this last outfit Mr. Man was over the whole photo session. So while this isn’t the most awesome picture ever (although I think he’s still way too cute in it) I just wanted to show off his little outfit. Gap is a fantastic place to buy kids clothes for portrait sessions. And anyone that wants to buy one these jackets from the Stella McCartney Collection gets a session fee on the house. Cause I have the cutest idea for a little boy in one of those jackets!!

Hillary & Ryan’s Wedding: Tulsa, OK

Hillary and Ryan… what can I say? I love love love this couple!!! Hillary and I met at an open house at Dresser Mansion and we immediately clicked! Although, I’m willing to bet Hillary has that experience with a lot of people. She’s extremely  likeable and fun to be around. This wedding was way too much fun. They did everything I would recommend to have a great party. 1) They hired Erica Weddings. You can’t believe the importance of having an awesome wedding coordinator. I know initally people think they don’t need one. But you do. And no offense whatsoever, but your type A personality good friend isn’t going to cut it as a coordinator. (Okay, I take that back, I’ve been to two weddings where the friend did a great job. But I’ve shot hundreds of weddings) You really need someone who’s trained in wedding coordination. I’m off my soapbox now. 2) They allowed over 2 hours to do the portrait session with them and the wedding party. Having a bunch of great pictures takes time. It takes time for you and your wedding party to get relaxed. It gives April and I the opportunity to get creative. Can we take some great pictures if you only leave 10 minutes? Yes, but if you want to really utilize your photographers, leave some extra time. :-) 3) They hired great entertainment! Find the DJ company that’s perfect for your party! They hired Paul with Tulsa Wedding DJ.  When we left at 11pm the party was still going strong and Hillary and Ryan were having the time of their lives. Okay okay, enough preaching! Time to show some pics!blog2blog1blog3We headed downtown for the portrait session. The weather was PERFECT! blog4blog5blog6Of course the AWESOME flowers were done by Lindi of the Bridal Garden! I’ve sent so many brides Lindi’s way this year and every bride that has used her is in love with her! Her work is unreal! And she’s precious. Please, if you’re still looking for flowers go check her out. blog7blogOh another thing about having time… we can take random and hilarious pictures of your wedding party! This wedding party had a lot of fun with it. All these images were shot by April. blog8blog9All these boys were OU Baseball players. This was a special requested shot by the wives.blog10Yum! Loves!blog11Incase you haven’t heard me mention it before. I love it when we do family pictures where everyone’s huggy and pulled in tight. I think they just look soooo much better! Aren’t Hillary and her mama and sister just stunning??blog12This was probably one of my favorite parts of the day. These kids were the cutest flower girl and ring bearer ever.  I just don’t think there’s any competing with them. I did not pose these pictures at all. All I did was ask them to stand next to eachother. They did the rest. It was precious! They just love eachother and were being darling. I’ve looked at these images about a trillion times and they make me smile every single time! blog13

Hillary and Ryan, ya’ll are the best!! Thanks for choosing me to photograph such an incredible day! I really feel honored!

Shannon & Chris’ Engagement Pictures: Tulsa, OK

Awhile back I went out with Shannon and Chris for their engagement session. I love this couple. They’re so much fun and they’re having this unbelievable wedding in April that I’m oh so excited about. This session actually took 2 tries because it was the kick off to the rainest two months of my career and it ended up clouding over so badly it was time to quit the session. But the 2nd try we had lovely sun so it was a hit! Chris actually came with a few ideas he had for the session that I was excited about. I love it when a couple really wants to make their session uniquely them.  The results were great! blog1Um… Loving it!!blog3One of Chris’ ideas was to go up into the Philtowers and go out onto the fire escape. This required all 3 of us to climb through a window. I believe we were on the 8th floor. Kinda made me feel like an urban National Geographic photographer. I love a challenge. :-) blog2

Morgan’s Senior Pictures – Tulsa, OK

This is Morgan… she was a blast!! From the moment she showed up for her first appointment I knew I liked her. As we were pulling up to Philbrook, it started drizzling. She didn’t complain at all that we had to reschedule. She was totally into the idea of having absolutely gorgeous pictures so she didn’t mind having to put it off once, or twice. And thankfully, on her 3rd scheduled appointment the weather broke and we were able to do the session. Morgan has this bubbly and funny personality and is immediately likeable! And she can totally work it infront of the camera. I’m so lucky to get such awesome clients. I’m resisting putting up about 20 of my favorite pictures, but I wanted to give Morgan a little peak of the images. blog1blog3blog2blog4This is the best time of year for pictures! You can get great images that look like it’s a spring day, and yet the colors are changing and you can get the fall look as well! blog5

Um yeah. Hi. Are you kidding me??? This is definitely my favorite picture of the week! Loving it!!

Danielle’s Bridal Portraits – Tulsa, OK

I had such an amazing time photographing Danielle’s bridal session. For one, she brought a whole entourage of fabulous women along with her! They were all a blast. Its also a tradition with Danielle’s sisters to be in the bridal portraits in their bridesmaids dresses. And finally, and what made the session just over the top (other than Danielle’s sparkling, fun personality) was the dress. THE dress. Danielle wore her grandmother’s wedding gown. Its the same gown Danielle’s mother wore for her wedding. Just thinking about it gives me chills! Can you imagine having a dress in your family that is so timeless that its been able to be worn by 3 generations of women?? Now they did make some changes to it for Danielle (it used to have sleeves) but its still very much the same dress. (ya know in 27 Dresses when the sister totally alters the mother’s wedding gown and it doesn’t look like the same dress at all? So not the case in this situation) Anyway, it was just really cool so I wanted to share. But again, I had blast on this session and was thrilled with all the images. I’ll share the wedding day images soon! scheuerman 004scheuerman 008scheuerman 009scheuerman 0171scheuerman 012scheuerman 005

Danielle mentioned really wanting a shot with her veil blowing, but I decided with the huge long train she had that we needed to get all sorts of motion going. That dress could really move! Love it!
