Calista’s Maternity Session – Tulsa Maternity Photography

In honor of her 31st 29th birthday tomorrow, I thought I’d post my sister’s maternity session. I’m allowed (or rather, I’m allowing myself) to talk about her age because she looks about 20. I wanted to do something a bit different for this session. Not many women can be 8 months pregnant and still look this good in a bikini. Sickening right? But she found the perfect bikini and the perfect Esther Williams style swim cap and we headed to the lake. I’d really love an actual beach, but this is Oklahoma. And we have lakes. So ya work with what ya got. Enjoy the pics and leave a happy birthday comment for my gorgeous sister!!

We even let Chris come along for a couple quick snaps. We opted to leave my other 2 nephews with our mom. I wasn’t prepared for that kind of stress. Oh and look for some birth pictures in the next month or so. Its okay… its not as gross as it sounds.

Marci’s Maternity Pictures (and Aaron too!) – Tulsa Maternity Photographer

I don’t know what was in the water a few months back… but I’m doing a whole lotta maternity pictures lately! I’m so thrilled that the weather is finally good enough to get out without freezing to death. When we did Marci and Aaron’s session I really “encouraged” doing an outdoor session. Its great to be outside again!! Marci really wanted a field picture, but we’re just limited on fields this time of year. Most were mowed down and haven’t yet really started to grow. But I was bound and determined to give her something sorta unique, and I hope I succeeded. (you’ll see what I’m talking about below)So have you seen the movie Big Fish? If you haven’t you should. I’m not a big movie person (in fact I NEVER go to the movies. No lie. The last thing I saw in the theater was Tropic Thunder). But the movies I do watch occasionally influence me artistically. And so when I was thinking of what would work for her session, and work with the Spring season, I thought of this movie. Here’s the pic that was my inspiration:And here’s my meager interpretation of it. It wasn’t meant to look exactly like that. I just was influenced by that scene. I hate it when “artsy” people talk like I’m talking. Its super annoying. I’m gonna shut up now.

Marci, you’re such a gorgeous Mama-to-be! Can’t wait to meet that new baby!!

Maternity Snow Sesssions: Tulsa Maternity Photographer

On Saturday I got the opportunity to photograph two beautiful expecting Mamas. I love it that I have friends and clients that I can say to “hey… want to stand half naked in the snow to make art???” and they’re all for it! I think it was worth the cold. Both girls were fabulous in front of the camera and so much fun to photograph. Gina (the first lady shown) is a friend of mine and I’ve photographed her before so I knew she was a great model. But Brittany is a new client so the fact that she was AWESOME infront of the camera was a major plus! Thanks girls for braving the weather! I hope you’re as thrilled as I am!! I showed up for Gina’s shoot and she had a bag of bright, gem toned Sarees to use for the shoot! It was like Christmas for me!

Amanda & Ben: Maternity

I just couldn’t resist working up some of these pictures and getting them blogged. I had a blast photographing this maternity session. Of course it helps that a) Amanda is gorgeous b) she did all the right things to prepare for the session (more on that in a bit) and c) she’s so much more than a client and we already have a relationship so there was none of that “warming up” needed. I don’t think Amanda will mind me saying that she’s not one of those women that just loves being pregnant. Since many women don’t feel like their normal saucy selves during their pregnancies, they choose to not do a maternity session. Which is a bummer! Each pregnancy is totally unique and, I think, needs to be documented. Anyway, Amanda hadn’t originally planned on doing a session but I talked her into it. So to make herself feel like a million bucks for the shoot she bought some fun new clothes, got her hair and makeup professionally done, and most importantly, she didn’t wait till too late into the pregnancy to do the pictures. So I hope you love them, Amanda. You look great!!

um… yeah. Pregnancy can be hot!!
