Delana & Johnny: Married – Oklahoma City Wedding Photographer

Delana and I go back. Way way back. When my family first moved to Tulsa her family let my crazy family move in next door to them (they were our landlords!) while we were waiting to sell our home in Texas. We also went to church together. We saw a lot of eachother. We played a lot of cards, drank a whole lot of Dr. Pepper and pulled some odd antics. We were… weird. In the meantime we became great friends and remained that way. Oh the stories we can tell about eachother. There’s a few that come to mind that seriously crack me up, but you really had to be there. Anywhoosie! Delana got married in June and I was the photographer. Delana and Johnny have been dating for approximately a billion years so it was about time! I actually got to be there when he proposed and it was perfect and sweet.

Its been so much fun being around watching ‘Lana plan her big day and it turned out perfectly. The wedding was held in Oklahoma City and we were able to drive over to Bricktown for their portrait session. And Dude. It was hot. But the whole wedding party were total champs about it and we had a blast. Being at the wedding was a blast cause I got to see lots of old friends. And fun fact! April (the world’s greatest second shooter) and Delana are cousin-in-laws. So April knew everyone too!

This could be my favorite bride and bridesmaid/bride and sisters shot EVER. I love these girls!!So… Johnny couldn’t keep his eyes off his woman that day!! That’s the face of a man head over heels!!April shot this one and I love it! D’s expression is so fun!

Can you even handle this sauciness?? More of April’s shots above and below. She’s all about the details. The bouquet was done by the fabulous Bridal Garden by Lindi. Her work is flawless!

Johnny is an Air Force guy. So instead of throwing birdseed or blowing bubbles they had all their guests make paper airplanes to throw. I love it that after 9 years shooting weddings I’m still seeing new ideas!

Happy Anniversary: May – Tulsa Wedding Photographer

It can’t be almost the end of May already, can it? Geez. Here’s my May weddings from last year!! Last May was the craziest wedding month. We had 5 weddings, so that kept us busy enough. But dealing with 22 days straight with rain? Yeah. Always an adventure!! Erica & Russel Scott - Married May 7th Favorite Memories: Can I really narrow it down to just a few?? It was the wedding to end all weddings! So much fun! But my top faves was the limo ride to the church. All of Erica’s bridesmaids were equally hilarious and fun. The first dance that made even my picky swing dancer heart proud. And dude… the party. I can’t narrow it down to one particular moment. From the 18 piece orchestra to the rockin’ party that went super late, It was awesome all around. Rocio & Jeromy Patton – Married May 14th Favorite Memories: The bizarre weather!! Stinkin’ freezing cold! Trudging through the mud and poor Rocio’s dress being covered in mud at the bottom. (she’s a great girl, she just went with the hand she was dealt). And meeting the wedding party at this funky little bar in Sapulpa for some fun shots.Lani & Daniel Stone – Married May 22nd Favorite Memories: Having a sunny beautiful day after many many icky days! (The wedding was in Norman, pretty sure it was raining in Tulsa), Lani’s super fun and crazy family, and a crazy groomsmen who kept calling me Ted? Never figured that one out!Kristin & Stefan Hollis - Married May 23rd Favorite Memories: Again… a little hard to narrow to just a few. This was another incredible wedding! But having Kristin be thrilled when the rain started pouring was really funny (she wanted an umbrella shot and boy did she ever get one! Its like one of my all time fave portraits), seeing Camp Loughridge more beautiful than I’ve ever seen it, and shooting a beautiful moment between Kristin and her dad.

Ashley & Shawn Campbell – Married May 30th Favorite Memories: Ashley and her bridesmaids having a pillow fight shortly before she walked down the aisle (true story!), Ashley being totally chill the entire time leading up to the wedding, and her adorable grandparents. They were just exceptionally cute!

Paige & Andrew’s Wedding – Tulsa Wedding Photographer

I’m so excited to finally get to show off Paige and Andrew’s wedding. It was just such a perfect day, perfect couple, perfect setting. Perfect! As many weddings as I shoot at Dresser Mansion, its like going home when we get to shoot a wedding there. When Paige talked about what she wanted for her wedding she said a couple times that she was going for a classic feel. And she certainly achieved that! Some weddings are timeless, and this was one of them. I can’t say enough good things about this couple. I just fell in love with them and I’m personally thrilled with how their images turned out!! Please enjoy looking at them!!Faccia Bella took care of the hair and makeup for the girls. I love a lace dress!! Again… timeless!!We all know how much I love a “first look”. I love this moment when Paige was showing off her dress to Andrew.Favorite!!! AYKM with Paige’s cuteness?? I see this as a giant gallery wrap above their fireplace!! I’m in love. And can we talk about that bouquet?? It’s probably my favorite bouquet ever! Everytime I work with Lindi (which is like every other wedding because she rocks and my brides love her as much as I do) she TOTALLY out does herself.This picture… oh this picture… it makes me miss my own grandmas so badly. Paige’s grandma wins the award for spunkiest grandma!! She was a firecracker!! Andrew and his fabulous sisters!This is right before Paige was about to walk down the aisle and she was waiting by herself. Its such a quiet moment and I think she looks so elegant.And guess who coordinated this whole day? Yep! My favorites!! Erica and Crystal of Erica Weddings. You really need a coordinator, if nothing else, for the day of. Its like the best money you can spend on your wedding. April 2009 was one of our quieter months so we only had two weddings (it was a much needed calm between the insanity we had during March and May!) Happy Anniversary guys!!Carrie and John Truskett – Married April 4th Favorite memories: Taking pictures of Carrie and John while they were driving to the reception… while I was driving. (April held the wheel and screamed at me to break), all the great toasts by so many people that loved them, and getting to have a repeat bridesmaid. (she was a pro!) Hi Brooke!! Tami and Justin – Married April 24th Favorite Memories: Tami’s ADORABLE grandson who may have stolen the show with his cuteness, the fantastic band who got everyone dancing and having a good time, and the wind… oh the wind!! It was so bad that we literally had to change plans mid day. Luckily it died down just a little so we were able to get a few outdoor shots.

Chris & Shannon’s Wedding – Tulsa Wedding Photographer

K, you’ll have to ’scuse my potty mouth, but Shannon and Chris had a kick ass wedding!! I just couldn’t ask for better couples! The day was gorgeous; probably the best day we’d had all year up to that point! The ceremony was held at Holy Family and the reception at The Summit Club. Both are such fantastic venues. And Shannon provided the perfect amount of time for portraits!! We got lots of different looks and options. We had almost an hour total of time for just bride and groom portraits. Love! I have to give a major shout out to the wedding party! Ya’ll were great and we had such a fun time hanging out with you guys. Here’s some thoughts from Shannon and Chris about their big day.

What was your favorite moment?
Our favorite moment was getting into the limo all by ourselves as Husband and Wife after our grand exit from the Church knowing wedding was over and we were finally married after 6 years!!
Any advice to other brides and grooms?
Get lots of sleep the night before the wedding, take in every moment of the day and don’t take 19 months to plan a wedding, you have too much time to change your mind about things and to add more stuff!!
Funniest Moment from your wedding day?
Our funniest moment was hard to narrow down…it was either the Mike’s (Father of the Groom) dancing the night away at the reception or Brett’s (Maid of Honor) leap into the air (and then fall to the ground) to catch the bouquet!!
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Our favorite wedding purchase was by far was our AMAZING photographer (and I’m not saying this just to toot Andrea’s horn…it was by far the best purchase we made)!! Other than Andrea I would say the band!! Easy Street!! They rocked the night away!

This is just a teeny tiny portion of their florals. Guess who did them? Chris’ dad! Yep!! And he’s AWESOME. He calls himself an amateur. I laugh at that. His work is far from amateur! The Summit was drenched with flowers everywhere!! He even had florals in the bathrooms. Mike, you were out of control, but in a good way. This is one of April’s shots (as was the feet shot in the first set). There were lots of great toasts at the reception. Love their expressions in this one.

Cassie and Rickey’s Wedding – Tulsa Wedding Photographer

You didn’t think I’d actually blog 2 days in a row, did you? In my defense, I really thought I’d be able to get it done. But we had tickets to go see “Rain” and I had to leave early. (Note: If you’ve seen an actual Beatle in concert, don’t go see Rain. It makes you very snotty and unable to enjoy the show)

So Cassie and Rickey… what can I say? What a way to kick off my 2010 wedding season!! This had to have been the bling wedding of the year! Everything had at least a little bling from the dress to the programs. Cassie was gorgeous and Rickey was adorable and totally smitten with his bride! This couple has so much fun together and they laugh a lot. Even during their ceremony you could tell what a great time they were having. We started the day at the Marriott where the ladies were getting ready. The winds were OUT OF CONTROL!! Just unloading the car was work. I admit, I was worried about portraits because there was no way we could take a bride out into those winds. But we stayed upbeat and by the time we were starting bride and groom portraits the wind died down for that hour. Praise the Lord!!! The ceremony was at the lovely 1st Baptist downtown and the reception was back at the Marriott. Cassie and her Mama’s vision for this wedding was stunning and I think everything turned out gorgeous!! Thanks ya’ll for being fabulous clients and friends. I’m so glad that we got to document such an amazing day!

The day of their wedding I said something about getting to work with a “dream team” of wedding vendors. I can’t tell you how important it is to have the right people doing the work for you on your wedding day. If you have a vision for your wedding you’ve GOT to have the right people to execute it. I know I harp on ya’ll like ALL the time about this. Here’s a list of the awesome folks

I’m going to try my darndest to post an anniversary post every month. We’ll see how it goes. I can’t believe its already been a year since these weddings! I’m truly amazed at how times passes. Thanks a billion for being fabulous brides and congrats on 1 year of marriage! May God bless you with many, many more!!Okay… so Amanda and Ben got married in February, but I didn’t do an anniversary blog in February. So I didn’t want them to be left out. Married February 7th. Favorite Memories: Style style style!! Amanda has so much style and it showed in every detail, seeing tons of past and future clients, it being 70 degrees on February 7th.Dana and James Whittaker – Married March 14th Favorite Memories: The decor was to die for!! They both laughed a lot on their wedding day and had a really great time, and the way James smiled at Dana during the ceremony. Priceless! Sarah and Dave – Married March 15 Favorite memories: Perfectly intimate and emotional ceremony led by Sarah’s brother, watching her grandpa cuddle up her grandma to keep her warm, gorgeous setting for a wedding portrait session. (Miss you, girl!! We need to get together soon!!!) Kimmie and Nick Rowe – Married March 20th Favorite memories: Kimmie and Nick had one of the most fun receptions. I don’t know if I ever seen a bride and groom have as much fun as they did, A gift from her dad had us all in tears, Kimmie’s sis catching the bouquet like a champ.Haley and Josh O’Dell – Married March 28th. Guilty/Top 50: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

So… yeah. Um… Well its like this…

Okay I’ve got very few good excuses for not updating the blog in a super long time. BUT. I did have my busiest Christmas season ever and I was completely overwhellmed (thank you thank you thank you!) That’s always a good problem! I stayed busy up until the very last second. (No lie. I had a wedding on Christmas Eve. In a blizzard) So there’s that excuse. There are a few other that are actually really good. But no one wants to listen to me whine, right?

And as soon as the new year hit I’ve been slammed with all these FABULOUS new brides! I’m so excited about this year’s wedding season. You chicks are planning some AMAZING weddings and I’m thrilled to be a part of them. I love it that so many people get engaged over the holidays. Girls… please don’t wait to hire your vendors if you’ve got your date set! Everyone I know is booking up sooo quickly!

So since I was the worst blogger in the history of blogging this year I didn’t post images from most of my weddings. (Oh the guilt and the torment!!!) Since I didn’t do that I wanted to dedicate a post to my top 50 favorite images from the weddings this year. I could have posted 150. There were just too many images that I adored! And then I could post another 150 my favorites April took. (BTW! April had her baby last week! She is adorable!) So get ready for a whole lotta kissing pictures. For some reason I picked a lot of those to go in this set.

Thank you to all my 2009 clients! Ya’ll are absolutely unforgettable!! I love you guys so much!

Hillary & Ryan’s Wedding: Tulsa, OK

Hillary and Ryan… what can I say? I love love love this couple!!! Hillary and I met at an open house at Dresser Mansion and we immediately clicked! Although, I’m willing to bet Hillary has that experience with a lot of people. She’s extremely likeable and fun to be around. This wedding was way too much fun. They did everything I would recommend to have a great party. 1) They hired Erica Weddings. You can’t believe the importance of having an awesome wedding coordinator. I know initally people think they don’t need one. But you do. And no offense whatsoever, but your type A personality good friend isn’t going to cut it as a coordinator. (Okay, I take that back, I’ve been to two weddings where the friend did a great job. But I’ve shot hundreds of weddings) You really need someone who’s trained in wedding coordination. I’m off my soapbox now. 2) They allowed over 2 hours to do the portrait session with them and the wedding party. Having a bunch of great pictures takes time. It takes time for you and your wedding party to get relaxed. It gives April and I the opportunity to get creative. Can we take some great pictures if you only leave 10 minutes? Yes, but if you want to really utilize your photographers, leave some extra time. 3) They hired great entertainment! Find the DJ company that’s perfect for your party! They hired Paul with Tulsa Wedding DJ. When we left at 11pm the party was still going strong and Hillary and Ryan were having the time of their lives. Okay okay, enough preaching! Time to show some pics!We headed downtown for the portrait session. The weather was PERFECT! Of course the AWESOME flowers were done by Lindi of the Bridal Garden! I’ve sent so many brides Lindi’s way this year and every bride that has used her is in love with her! Her work is unreal! And she’s precious. Please, if you’re still looking for flowers go check her out. Oh another thing about having time… we can take random and hilarious pictures of your wedding party! This wedding party had a lot of fun with it. All these images were shot by April. All these boys were OU Baseball players. This was a special requested shot by the wives.Yum! Loves!Incase you haven’t heard me mention it before. I love it when we do family pictures where everyone’s huggy and pulled in tight. I think they just look soooo much better! Aren’t Hillary and her mama and sister just stunning??This was probably one of my favorite parts of the day. These kids were the cutest flower girl and ring bearer ever. I just don’t think there’s any competing with them. I did not pose these pictures at all. All I did was ask them to stand next to eachother. They did the rest. It was precious! They just love eachother and were being darling. I’ve looked at these images about a trillion times and they make me smile every single time!

Hillary and Ryan, ya’ll are the best!! Thanks for choosing me to photograph such an incredible day! I really feel honored!
