Andrea Murphy Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Hi! I'm Andrea Murphy and this is my blog! I've tried for quite some time to come up with something terribly clever to say about myself. Bios are just difficult to write, so I'll save the cleverness for my photos. I can tell you that I'm in love with (in no particular order) my husband, my family, photography, and God. I also really enjoy my friends, traveling, and Diet Pepsi.
I've set up this blog to show off some recent work and to share a little bit of who I am. So, enjoy my blog for what it's worth. Expect to see some bad grammar and lots of exclamation points!
Oh, and don't forget to leave a comment. I LOVE comments!! They make me feel special!!

Jessica’s Senior Pictures – Bartlesville Senior Pictures

I so love getting to be able to photograph high school seniors! I mean I love my weddings, but I started out as a high school senior photographer and it remains one of the best parts of my jobs! Jessica’s older sister and I are friends so I was thrilled when they chose me to photograph her! She has a flare for the dramatic (literally… she’s a fantastic actress from what I hear) and she’s bubbly and generally a blast to photograph!

And if you’re in a dress, ya gotta twirl. So we got her to play and twirl! Sooo fun!!Tulsa Senior Pictures 5Somehow at this session my brand new fabulous zebra rug was referred to as a skunk rug, and unfortunately, the name stuck. So yeah… its a skunk rug! :)
Jessica, you’re adorable! All the best in your future! Remember me when you’re famous!! :)

Ashley & Mark – Married: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

Wow… I’m struggling to find a place to start with this one! So I think I’ll quote Erica, of Erica Weddings, from a conversation she and I had on FB the other day. “I think client personality has A LOT to do with it too…Ashley & Mark had so much life that you can’t help but take beautiful pictures of them!!!” And its sooo true! The best way to describe this couple is “Full of life”! They are just so much fun to be around, and their wedding was a perfect extension of their personalities. Their friends and family are all amazing to be around too! Everyone involved made us feel like a part of the gang!
Ashley and Mark are both teachers, so you’ll see how they incorporated that into their wedding. I love it when couples add those personal touches, that make their weddings uniquely them.

We started the day at the Mayo for getting ready pictures.

Ashley hired the amazing Faccia Bella for makeup, they always do a great job! Plus she puts up with me hanging over her shoulder snapping away. ;)

Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 03Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 04Luckily they opted for a first look! So we had plenty of time to get all the pictures that were important to them.

Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 11I love this shot April snagged from her view! These bridesmaids were some of the sweetest and cutest girls ever!!Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 12So… yeah. Hmm… Here’s how this went down. Me: “Hey Ashley stand up front, and boys… well just be yourselves!” I look down to adjust my camera, and look up just in time for Ashley to look over her shoulder and see what’s going on. This was her response. Cra-Cra!! The great part is that he tried to pull up his pants after this. Um, no… they’re down there, they must stay down.

Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 13I didn’t realize the boys on the right had done what they were doing until later… they got trumped by pantless dude. (but only a little) Needless to say, I now know what Mark’s friends do when they’re being themselves. :) Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 14Ceremony at Sharp Chapel. This is also where Ashley’s parents got married! Such a cool way to honor her parents!

Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 15Like I said… full of life! Love this one!!

Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 18They had no groom’s cake so they opted for a Dippin’ Dots stand!! They also had popcorn for the late crowd! Its those little details that make a wedding great!Jazz Hall of Fame Tulsa 19I just love these two!! Here is Mark jumping a rope of napkins, and then singing karaoke to his bride!

Kristin & Justin – Married: Tulsa Wedding Photographer

Hey Remember that winter that never happened? Yeah, well it worked out really well for the weddings we were shooting! Beautiful weather! Kristin and Justin got married in January at South Tulsa Baptist Church and had a reception at the Double Tree Warren Place. It was one of those weddings that was flawless! Literally, everything was perfect! A lot of that had to do with the fact that they hired stinkin’ incredible vendors! Getting to work with amazing people lets me do my job to its fullest! And most of all, they had a super duper fantastic wedding coordinator, Erica of Erica Weddings. Check out the bottom of this post to see links to everyone else!

Ya know I love me a first look! And this one didn’t disappoint! I think the best part of a first look is how nervous and fidgety the groom gets while waiting for his bride. He always tries to act cool, but sorry boys, you’re not fooling anyone.

Um, speaking of sweet… how bout those kiddos?? When I hollered at Kristin and Justin to kiss this was the reaction I got out of the kids. Just precious!!

Flowers by the incredible Bridal Garden! Lindi rocks my face off! Oh and if you didn’t know, I adore pink. So obviously, I really, really loved this wedding!

Oh and if you also didn’t know, my second shooter April rocks at detail shots. I mean, she’s super talented, but she tears it up when it comes to details!

All the ceremony and reception decor was done by Ceremonial Blessings. As always, they outdid themselves!! Wait till you see the reception… OMG.

I had such a difficult time picking out an image of Kristin and her daddy right before he gave her away. I really love those last few moments with a bride and her dad. It takes me back to when I got married and remember how I could barely hold it together standing holding on to my dad. I LOVE capturing that moment. And I could be wrong, but at this wedding, I think Dad was really doing his best to hold it together himself. But he did great. :)

Pink!!!! This ballroom was TRANSFORMED!! Guys, I know I preach it ALL the time, but you MUST have professional lighting! A couple up-lights in a giant ballroom won’t do. Empire Lighting Design did a fantastic job! (shot by April)

Kristin and Justin started their first dance, and then surprised all of us with a choreographed dance with the entire wedding party! Their guests when nuts and their wedding party did sooo well!!

Both of these shots by April! I LOVE that last one!!
