After 2 wonderful years with my employee Alaina she’s moving on to a new opportunity! I’m super excited for her but ridiculously sad to lose her. But that means there’s a position open at Andrea Murphy Photography! These are very big shoes to fill. Note: This is not a photographer’s position and will never become one.

Emily and Daniel were married on Friday, so you know what that means… bridal session reveal time! Emily and I go back a ways to when she was an intern for my friend’s photography studio. (Artworks Tulsa Photography). She now owns her own photography studio, Emily Constance Photography. Such an honor to be chosen to photograph such a talented photographer! I’m so thrilled that she decided on a bridal session. I have so many girls that are on the fence about a bridal session that I really need to write blog post just about how great they are! They’re seriously the best!! Emily’s session was no exception. She brought both her parents and we just had a grand ole time! Can’t wait to share more of Emily from their gorgeous wedding!
For years we’ve been getting emails about bordeaux photography, boudrawer photography (that was a fun one), boodwah photography, and boudreaux photography. I’m kinda partial to the “boudreaux photography” – it’s the Cajun in me. I knew a Mr. Boudreaux once, he was a racoon that would sneak into a friend’s backyard and dine on their trash… but I digress. In person, people stumble over it even worse. It usually consists of them saying timidly, “I’m interested in boo… boo… um, lingerie photos” Yes we’ve had a little giggle about some of these spellings and sayings, but it’s not like boudoir is in your everyday vocabulary like it is mine and other photographers. So there’s absolutely no judgement on our part. And hey, this is Oklahoma not France. We just thought it was time for a little interpretation for those that might be on the struggle bus about it. So without further ado, here is the proper pronunciation of boudoir.
So what exactly is boudoir photography? In a way, that’s kind of up to you. Some would define it as lingerie photography, and for the most part, that is a good description. But it can be so much more (or sometimes less 😉 ) than that. Lingerie tends to be the most popular choice, but sometimes a boudoir session is defined by you just being your sexy self. What makes you feel the most sexy? Is it a fabulous little black dress? Is it a tank-top and jeans? Or maybe it’s an oversized, off-the-shoulder sweater. For some women they feel most sexy in nothing but a smile! To break it down to its simplest terms, a boudoir session is a photoshoot dedicated to just being a supermodel for the day. But it definitely goes beyond that: it’s a gift, and experience, a confidence builder, and so much more. You can choose for it to be sensual and provocative, or maybe you’d prefer glamorous and flirty. Whatever your desire, we can make happen.
In your pre-consultation, that takes place about a week before the session, we’ll discuss your vision of the photos and decide which direction to take it. You’ll be able to go through our custom designed albums and show us what photos appeal to you. If you’re doing this session for your husband, fiance, or significant other we can discuss what you think they’ll like as well. Just to take away the guesswork…. They’re going to love just about anything because they love YOU. And yes, while you’re doing it for him, I promise you you’ll be just as thrilled with the experience. It’s so great that a number of my clients come back every few years to create an updated book.
If you’re on the fence but you like the idea getting to be a supermodel or maybe you’re due for a confidence boost, give us a shout so we can chat about it. After all, a boudreaux session just can’t be beat.
I’m beginning to accept that catching up might never happen. I really will give it a good effort though. But in an attempt to play catch up, I don’t want to continue to fall behind. And when I have an adorable session that needs to be blogged (and I just happen to be editing it and have a few minutes to blog) then I need to do it. Doesn’t mean I don’t love you or your pictures if I haven’t blogged them. It just means I’m Andrea. And on top or Artist Brain, I also have Pregnant Brain. So please know that I love you all and that I want to blog everyone I ever photograph and its on my list of things to do. Ahem. Geez… I can really get myself into a tizzy over these things.
Hannah, and all the Bell family, are some of my favorite people. I’ve photographed them all, and they’re one of the most hilarious and lovely families you’ll ever meet. I did Hannah’s senior pictures, both of her sister’s senior pictures, her parent’s couple pictures, and one of her sister’s weddings. Love love love them! Oh and Hannah’s aunt is one of my very best BFF’s. At this point, they’re just family. So anytime I get to photograph them its a blast. But when its extra special, like getting married, it makes it extra fun.
Okay, so yesterday I said one of my favorite parts of my job is photographing seniors. Another favorite part of my job is photographing maternity sessions. (the truth is, is that almost every part of shooting is my favorite. Its kinda why I love what I do. Duh.) Sarah was the PERFECT client from start to finish! a) she’s adorable b) she’s a planner. So when she initially called and we started planning her session I got super excited. I know being a “planner” is an odd thing for me to comment about, but it just made both me and Calista’s jobs just easypeasy. (eta, have I mentioned that Calista is my office manager? Well she is. More about that later. Maybe. Someday.) Anyway, take a look! And Sarah, congrats on the twins!!
